Something Borrowed
Something Borrowed is my way of highlighting a few of the amazing vendors from my own wedding — fashion designers, florists, caterers, and more — whose work made the day unforgettable. Every so often on Black-tied, I’ll share who they are, what they do, and why I loved working with them.
Creative, dexterous, and deeply connected within the fashion world, Abena — the skilled milliner behind HatBoxCo — crafted the bridal fans for both my sister and me. Without a single sketch, she created two stunning pieces using only our dresses as reference. Her boutique, located in Airport Residential Area in Accra, is filled with beautifully handmade creations. And if you visit, be sure to tell her Black-tied sent you!
Founded by Rasheed Alfa, Alfa Marriages is all about wedding content creation done right. Armed with nothing more than a sharp eye, an iPhone, and an uncanny ability to blend in like a long-lost cousin, Rasheed captures everything from ‘getting ready’ jitters to late-night dancefloor chaos. A true creative, he’ll even dream up hashtags you didn’t know you needed, suggest edits you didn’t know you wanted, and bring a calm energy you definitely will need.
Founded by dynamic duo Sasha and Dillan, Divine Shots offers a luxury photobooth that’s the perfect addition to any wedding. With incredible camera quality, the photos became lasting keepsakes for us and our guests alike. They also provide a personalised photobook where guests can leave messages alongside their pictures, something we’ll treasure forever. Divine Shots helped us capture moments with so many of our guests we might have otherwise missed and the memories are priceless. They often run great booking offers too, so keep an eye out if you’re planning an event and want to add a photobooth!
