Made in Ghana

During my wedding planning process, it wasn’t lost on me how many Ghanaian businesses I relied on. From designers, to fabric vendors, to bridal accessories, to wedding favours and signage, these businesses were essential in bringing everything together.

If you’ve ever been to Ghana, you’ll know that most people around 30 (and often much younger), if not running their own businesses, are juggling not just one job but a side hustle and sometimes, even a side-side gig. A spirit of entrepreneurship runs throughout the country and it can’t be overstated. Those of us across the diaspora lean heavily on these businesses during our wedding planning journeys.

While this blog began as a way to document my own wedding journey (without much thought for its reach), the Made in Ghana series takes a new turn. In it, I sit down with young Ghanaian business owners to explore what inspired their ventures, how they’ve built their brands both locally and across the diaspora, and the unique ways they’ve carved out niches within the wedding space.

I’m so excited to share this with you, my first interview drops soon!

With Love,

ATW
